AI Engineer Intern

About the role

Lex.Africa is an AI‑powered legal marketplace serving Kenyan advocates. The AI Engineer Intern will work remotely to help develop and refine machine‑learning models that automate legal document drafting and review. This internship offers hands‑on experience in applying AI to real‑world legal workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Experiment with and improve neural network architectures for legal text processing.
• Develop, test, and integrate NLP models into the platform’s production pipeline.
• Run model training, evaluation, and optimization experiments.
• Write clean, well‑documented code and maintain version control.
• Prepare concise reports on model performance and findings.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or related degree program.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate in a remote, cross‑functional team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with neural networks and pattern recognition.
• Knowledge of Natural Language Processing techniques and libraries.
• Familiarity with machine‑learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• Version control using Git.
