Analyst, Economics & Policy

About the role

The Analyst will join the Regional Policy and Strategy (RPS) team in Nairobi, supporting the Bank’s transition agenda across Sub‑Saharan Africa. Working closely with Policy Strategy, Climate Strategy, and Banking teams, the role contributes to a coherent, holistic policy framework for the region.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Regional Policy Lead (RPL) in monitoring growth and reform progress across the region.
• Develop and implement policy dialogue workstreams on green transition, economic governance, competitiveness, human capital, digitalisation, and capital‑markets development.
• Participate in transaction and project work, taking responsibility for assigned analytical tasks.
• Assist Banking in delivering investments, preparing OpsCom and Board presentations, and producing comprehensive analytical assessments.
• Monitor and analyse macro‑economic performance and risks, and assess structural reform progress for inclusion in regional reports.
• Prepare country diagnostics, country strategies, and policy compacts.
• Conduct ad‑hoc research on macro‑economics, sectoral trends, and policy developments, drafting briefings and short analyses.
• Support the preparation of regular growth forecasts and long‑term macro‑economic scenarios for financial modelling.

• Demonstrated strong commitment to, and understanding of, the Bank’s transition agenda.
• Ability to work flexibly across the Bank’s areas of focus and contribute to a holistic policy agenda.
