Architectural Draftsman – Detailed CAD Design for Construction Projects

About the role

Our client, a leading construction firm in Nairobi, is looking for an experienced Architectural Draftsman to produce detailed architectural drawings and technical documentation for residential, commercial and industrial projects. The role involves translating design concepts into accurate CAD drawings, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance with local building codes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed architectural drawings, plans, elevations, sections and construction details using CAD software.
• Interpret architectural concepts and convert them into precise technical drawings and specifications.
• Develop working drawings for residential, commercial and industrial projects.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, quantity surveyors and project managers to ensure design accuracy and compliance.
• Update and revise drawings based on design changes, site conditions and client feedback.
• Conduct site visits to verify dimensions and align designs with actual conditions.
• Produce presentation drawings, 3D visualisations and design layouts as required.
• Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions and project documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum five (5) years of hands‑on architectural drafting experience in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of building design, construction methodologies and local architectural standards.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Mature professional, preferably over 28 years of age, with a strong work ethic and problem‑solving attitude.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD).
• Ability to create 3D visualisations and presentation drawings.
