Area Manager - Maintenance

About the role

Jamii Telecommunications is seeking an experienced Area Manager – Maintenance to lead the upkeep of its fiber and 4G infrastructure in the Westlands region of Nairobi. The role combines hands‑on technical oversight with team leadership to ensure network reliability and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance of the fiber optic network, network nodes and 4G equipment across the assigned area, ensuring integrity of both underground and overhead cables.
• Lead and coordinate maintenance teams and external contractors, allocating tasks, monitoring progress and providing technical guidance.
• Implement preventive maintenance programmes for power systems, air‑conditioning units and other critical infrastructure.
• Engage with road authorities, building contractors and other utility providers to protect the optic‑fiber backbone and facilitate access.
• Produce regular performance and incident reports for senior management and ensure timely resolution of trouble tickets.
• Maintain splicing tools and other specialised equipment in optimal condition.
• Enforce safety standards and compliance throughout all field activities.

Required profile

• Degree or Higher National Diploma in Electronics, Telecommunications or a related discipline.
• Minimum six years of experience in network maintenance, with at least three years in a supervisory role.
• Proven ability to manage teams and work effectively with contractors and regulatory bodies.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making skills, with a focus on proactive issue resolution.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder interaction.
