Assistant Accountant - Receivables

About the role

The Assistant Accountant – Receivables will manage the full accounts receivable cycle, ensuring timely collections and accurate ledger maintenance. You will work closely with the sales team and support finance operations in a fast‑moving retail, fashion and FMCG environment.

Key responsibilities

• Handle the accounts receivable process, adhering to approved credit terms.
• Analyse and reconcile cash and credit customer accounts.
• Monitor customer payments and follow up on overdue balances.
• Collaborate with the sales team to maintain payment terms and address customer queries.
• Represent the company professionally during collection activities.
• Maintain up‑to‑date customer ledgers and issue credit notes.
• Generate receivables aging reports and prepare journal vouchers.
• Assist with statutory returns, including VAT, and support audit activities.
• Develop schedules, procedures and systems to improve workflow efficiency.
• Conduct internal system reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Finance or Accounting) or related field.
• ACCA or CPA qualification.
• At least 2 years of experience managing accounts receivable.
• Strong analytical and reconciliation abilities.
• Knowledge of VAT regulations and statutory return processes.
• Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably SAP Business One.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
