Assistant HR Manager – Malindi

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant HR Manager to support our Group HR Manager across multiple business units, including petroleum, hospitality, distribution, and a private academy. Based in Malindi, you will play a key role in implementing HR policies and ensuring compliance with Kenyan labour laws.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Group HR Manager in rolling out HR policies, procedures and strategies.
• Manage recruitment, selection, onboarding, contracts, probation periods and maintain employee records.
• Handle employee relations, grievances, disciplinary actions and conflict resolution in line with company policy and Kenyan labour legislation.
• Coordinate payroll inputs, leave, attendance, overtime, staff movements and prepare HR reports.
• Assist with performance management, appraisals, KPI tracking, training and staff development initiatives.
• Maintain accurate and confidential personnel files and HRIS data.
• Provide HR advisory support to department heads and supervisors.
• Contribute to workforce planning, HR audits, policy reviews and continuous improvement of HR processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations or a related field.
• CHRP‑K or Higher Diploma in HR strongly preferred.
• Strong practical knowledge of Kenyan labour laws and HR compliance.
• 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior HR role.
• Proven experience in recruitment, employee relations, disciplinary procedures, performance management, payroll coordination, training and HR administration.
• Experience in hospitality, petroleum, FMCG/distribution, logistics, education or other multi‑site operations is an advantage.
