Assistant Product Engineer – Nairobi

About the role

Solar Panda is seeking an Assistant Product Engineer to support the design, development and continuous improvement of its solar‑based products in Nairobi. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure product quality, reliability and successful market introduction.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design and development of solar products, batteries and consumer electronics.
• Plan, execute and document product testing, validation and prototype evaluations.
• Investigate product failures, perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Drive quality and reliability improvements throughout the product lifecycle.
• Provide technical support to operations, refurbishment, customer support and internal teams.
• Coordinate engineering projects and support new product introductions.
• Maintain engineering documentation, technical reports and product specifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5–8 years of experience in product engineering, electronics, renewable energy, embedded systems or consumer electronics.
• Experience working with contract manufacturers or international suppliers is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of electronic hardware, embedded systems, solar products and batteries.
