Assistant Project Manager – Construction

About the role

The Assistant Project Manager will support the Project Manager in delivering residential and commercial construction projects in Nairobi. This role involves coordinating daily site activities, monitoring progress, and ensuring that work aligns with approved schedules and budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing work plans, construction schedules, timelines and implementation trackers.
• Coordinate daily site activities and communicate targets to site supervisors, foremen and labour teams.
• Monitor project milestones, flag delays, risks or constraints, and escalate issues early.
• Review and interpret architectural, structural, civil, mechanical and electrical drawings, raising queries as needed.
• Support preparation and tracking of RFIs, site instructions, technical approvals and drawing revisions.
• Assist in budgeting, cost estimating and cost‑tracking, reporting variances against approved budgets.
• Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely ordering, delivery and receipt of materials, equipment and services.
• Conduct routine site checks to verify compliance with drawings, specifications and quality standards.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least 7 years (84 months) of experience in construction project coordination.
• Proven ability to work on residential and commercial projects and to liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in tracking schedules, budgets and site documentation.
