Assistant School Nurse – Athi River School

About the role

Nova Pioneer Athi River School is seeking an Assistant School Nurse to support the health and well‑being of its students. The role involves delivering first‑aid care, managing chronic conditions, and promoting health education within the school community.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first aid and care to students with acute and chronic health conditions.
• Assess students presenting with illnesses, injuries or health concerns and determine appropriate care, monitoring or referral.
• Coordinate referrals to health facilities and follow up to ensure continuity of care.
• Perform health screenings, detect issues and make appropriate referrals.
• Lead wellness and health‑related initiatives for students, staff and parents.
• Oversee infection control measures within the school.
• Monitor and support management of communicable diseases and outbreaks in collaboration with school leadership and health authorities.
• Supervise and administer medications brought to school according to policy and medical instructions.
• Make courtesy follow‑up calls to parents/guardians of children absent due to illness.
• Develop and maintain individual healthcare plans for students with chronic or complex medical conditions.
