Backend Software Engineer – Remote Contract

About the role

We are seeking a remote Backend Engineer on a contract basis to design, build and maintain high‑performance backend services for a global software leader. The role focuses on creating scalable APIs and data pipelines while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy robust backend services using modern frameworks.
• Optimize performance, scalability and reliability for worldwide users.
• Write clean, maintainable and well‑documented code following best practices.
• Debug and resolve production issues with an emphasis on uptime.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural decisions.

Required profile

• Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Python, Java or Go.
• Experience building RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases and query optimization.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure) and containerisation tools.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git).
