Budget Analyst – Nairobi

About the role

The Budget Analyst will support CIVIC’s mission to protect civilians in conflict zones by preparing and monitoring financial plans, analyzing spending, and providing insights that guide resource allocation across projects.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate budget proposals and funding requests in collaboration with project managers.
• Maintain and update budget templates, trackers, and cost‑benefit analyses.
• Monitor program spending to ensure compliance with budgets and legal regulations.
• Analyze actual financial results, forecast future needs, and assess the impact of foreign‑currency fluctuations.
• Prepare periodic and special financial reports and identify spending trends.
• Review time‑keeping practices and suggest improvements to increase efficiency.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in budgeting or finance, preferably with an international NGO.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Strong analytical mindset, curiosity, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; French proficiency is a plus.
• Legal authorization to work in Kenya without sponsorship.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Experience with accounting software; knowledge of Sage Intacct preferred.
