Business Development Executive

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Business Development Executive to join a fast‑growing logistics and freight forwarding company in Nairobi. The role focuses on acquiring new clients, generating leads and managing relationships to drive revenue growth in the freight forwarding sector.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new business opportunities across freight forwarding, logistics, clearing and forwarding services.
• Generate leads through networking, referrals, cold calling and market research.
• Schedule client meetings, deliver presentations and prepare quotations, proposals and service agreements.
• Support the achievement of monthly and quarterly sales targets.
• Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients, ensuring high satisfaction and identifying upsell opportunities.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities and trade flows involving China, India and East Africa.
• Liaise with operations teams to ensure timely service delivery and help clients understand shipping, customs clearance and logistics processes.
• Maintain accurate records of leads, client interactions and sales activities; prepare weekly sales reports and keep the CRM updated.

Required profile

• Mid‑level experience (approximately 4 years) in business development or sales within logistics or freight forwarding.
• Good understanding of freight forwarding operations and customs clearance processes.
• Strong communication, negotiation and client relationship management skills.
• Result‑oriented, self‑motivated and able to work independently to meet targets.
