Business Manager

About the role

The Business Manager serves as Farm Africa’s central technical authority on Business Development Services (BDS) for the Kenya portfolio. The role provides cross‑cutting expertise, designs interventions, and backs‑stops implementation across all projects.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary focal point for BDS technical expertise across the Farm Africa Kenya project portfolio.
• Develop and drive the implementation of Farm Africa’s agribusiness strategy.
• Collaborate with external partners and internal project managers to refine and advance BDS components.
• Ensure consistency and quality of decentralized BDS activities, aligning them with international best practices.
• Coordinate internal resource sharing, deploying technical staff and consultants to support BDS components.
• Lead technical conceptualisation and design of BDS interventions for new grants, active projects, and consultancies.
• Contribute to resource mobilisation, proposal writing, and blended‑finance integration.
• Design, standardise, and maintain a repository of BDS models, curricula, tools, and templates.
• Provide coaching, mentorship, and capacity‑building support to partners and project teams.
• Support Business Support Advisors in diagnosing capacity gaps within targeted SMEs.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in business development services within agribusiness or SME contexts.
• Proven ability to design and implement technical interventions across multiple projects.
• Strong collaborative skills with external partners and internal teams.
• Experience in resource mobilisation, proposal development, and blended‑finance approaches.
• Capacity to develop training materials, tools, and templates for BDS.
