Business Relationship Trainee

About the role

The Business Relationship Trainee will support Hand in Hand Eastern Africa’s community‑based programmes by promoting activities, recruiting members, and facilitating group formation in assigned areas. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in outreach, loan processing and group management within a leading NGO.

Key responsibilities

• Create awareness of HiH EA operations through promotion and outreach in target communities.
• Select, identify and recruit potential groups or individual members according to organisational policies.
• Mobilise, form and attend group meetings, ensuring cohesion and sustainability.
• Collect and verify member personal information using the registration tool.
• Facilitate group formation, member management and training on the HiH EA model.
• Assess members’ credit access, submit applications for approval, and process loan disbursements.
• Monitor loan repayment and recovery, providing continuous follow‑up.
• Prepare and submit regular reports (daily, monthly, semi‑annual, annual) on activities and outcomes.

Required profile

• Entry‑level candidate with up to 12 months of relevant experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for community engagement.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in field settings.
• Attention to detail for data collection and reporting.
• Commitment to the mission of economic empowerment and poverty reduction.
