Central Transport Operations Lead

About the role

The Central Transport Operations Lead will drive strategic planning, coordination and continuous improvement of transport activities across multiple sites and customers. Reporting to the General Manager, Transport, the role ensures safe, cost‑effective and compliant movement of goods while meeting service‑level targets.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily transport operations across the assigned network, ensuring timely dispatch and delivery of customer orders.
• Monitor fleet utilization, optimize vehicle routing, load planning and vehicle allocation to maximize capacity.
• Use transportation management systems and real‑time tracking tools to monitor shipments and vehicles.
• Resolve operational issues and service disruptions promptly, coordinating with customer service and stakeholders.
• Drive initiatives to improve vehicle productivity, reduce downtime and monitor fuel consumption.
• Promote a positive safety culture, ensure compliance with transport regulations, axle‑load requirements and road‑safety standards.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities without compromising service delivery and manage supplier/contractor performance.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• Proven experience in transport or logistics operations, preferably in a multi‑site environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to monitor performance metrics and drive improvements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
• Experience using GPS tracking and fleet management tools.
• Ability to analyse fleet performance data and implement optimisation strategies.
