Chief Water Plant Operator

About the role

The City is seeking a Chief Water Plant Operator to lead the RO Water Treatment Plant. Reporting to the Water Plant Director, you will oversee the safe, reliable delivery of public water while managing a skilled team.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and direct all water production activities, including operation, maintenance, and repair of the RO plant.
• Develop, enforce, and monitor policies, procedures, and standards for plant performance.
• Review project plans for compliance, assign staffing, and inspect completed work.
• Handle personnel matters such as training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and discipline.
• Assess departmental needs, specify equipment, manage expenditures, and requisition supplies.
• Maintain accurate records, compile data, and prepare performance and compliance reports.
• Manage production and monitoring wells, and coordinate with the Water Distribution Supervisor on chemical residuals and system pressures.
• Provide technical guidance to contractors and review laboratory reports, treatment parameters, and chemical dosages to ensure regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in water treatment plant operations, preferably with RO technology.
• Strong supervisory and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime to maintain continuous service.
• Excellent judgment and decision‑making within established policies and regulatory guidelines.
