Child Welfare Assistant – Mandera County

About the role

Islamic Relief Kenya is seeking a motivated Child Welfare Assistant to support the implementation of child welfare interventions in Mandera County. Working under the Child Welfare Coordinator, you will help design, monitor, and evaluate programmes that protect and empower orphaned children.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning, coordination and implementation of project activities according to the approved implementation plan.
• Facilitate timely processing of quarterly sponsorship payments, regular support payments and donor gifts to sponsored orphans.
• Conduct regular home visits to verify delivery of benefits and assess child well‑being.
• Maintain accurate orphan profiles and biodata in the Alyateem system, ensuring data quality.
• Prepare comprehensive reports on household visits, highlighting observations, safeguarding concerns and follow‑up actions.

Required profile

• Degree in project management, community development, psychology, social work or related field.
• Minimum two years of professional experience in child protection, project management, safeguarding or humanitarian response.
• Fluent in English and Kiswahili; knowledge of the local language is strongly preferred.
