Commercial Manager – Bakery & Delicatessen

About the role

The Commercial Manager will lead the commercial performance of the bakery, pastry, deli and dairy categories for Majid Al Futtaim Retail in Kenya. You will be responsible for driving sales growth, improving profitability and ensuring product freshness, quality and safety across all fresh‑food departments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies to increase sales, market share and customer loyalty.
• Define pricing, promotion and assortment plans based on customer insights, seasonality and market trends.
• Optimize profitability through margin management, waste reduction and cost‑control initiatives.
• Lead demand forecasting and inventory planning to balance availability, freshness and stock efficiency.
• Build and manage supplier partnerships to secure quality products, competitive pricing and innovation.
• Analyse market performance and KPIs to identify growth opportunities and drive data‑led decisions.
• Drive customer‑experience initiatives through product presentation, freshness standards and in‑store execution.
• Align cross‑functional teams (operations, supply chain, marketing) to ensure consistent commercial execution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
• 5–10 years of experience in a commercial role, preferably within retail food categories.
• Proven experience in sourcing for bakery and delicatessen is essential.
• Strong business communication and presentation abilities.
