Communications and External Relations Officer

About the role

The Communications and External Relations Officer will join the Regional Stakeholder Engagement team of the World Bank Group in Nairobi. The role supports the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement, communications, advocacy and reputational risk management activities across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic communications and advocacy campaigns aligned with World Bank Group priorities.
• Engage with regional and country stakeholders, including media, civil society, private sector and donor partners.
• Manage reputational risk by monitoring public discourse and coordinating response strategies.
• Produce editorial content and leverage traditional and digital tools, such as social media and artificial intelligence, to shape development debates.
• Collaborate with operational teams to share progress, knowledge and results.

Required profile

• Experience in communications, external relations or advocacy within an international development context.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and coordinate across multiple regions.
