Communications Assistant

About the role

The Africa Communications Assistant will help shape and share Habitat’s story across the continent, aligning with global brand standards and working closely with internal partners. This role supports partnerships, advocacy, and program communications while managing digital and social media channels for the region.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Africa programs team to develop regional narratives that support fundraising, advocacy, and program priorities.
• Gather content and create compelling stories, photos, videos, and other assets for key stakeholders.
• Manage website content and regional social‑media channels to boost engagement and audience growth.
• Review and edit communications materials to ensure consistency with Habitat’s brand standards.
• Coordinate media engagements, partnership visibility, and campaign rollouts across the region.
• Support planning and execution of regional events, including branding, photography, and post‑event storytelling.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in communications, preferably within the nonprofit or development sector.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to convey technical and non‑technical information clearly.

Required skills

• Experience with content management systems such as Drupal and WordPress.
• Basic HTML knowledge.
• Proficiency in managing social‑media platforms.
