Communications Manager – DREEM

About the role

The Communications Manager will lead the communication strategy for the DREEM initiative, a phase‑II partnership between WUSC and the Mastercard Foundation that supports refugee, displaced and host‑community youth across Africa. Reporting to the DREEM Project Director, the role will craft messages, manage media relations and ensure consistent branding across multiple country offices.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an integrated communications plan for the DREEM project across five African hubs.
• Produce press releases, newsletters, social media content, and success stories that highlight project impact.
• Coordinate with Refugee‑Led Organizations, partners and internal teams to gather stories and data for external communication.
• Manage relationships with regional media outlets and oversee media monitoring and reporting.
• Support fundraising and advocacy efforts by preparing briefing materials and presentation decks.

Required profile

• Full fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.
• Proven experience in communications, public relations or media within the international development sector.
• Strong understanding of refugee and youth empowerment contexts in Africa.
• Ability to work across multiple time zones and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
