Communications Manager – DREEM Project

About the role

The Communications Manager will lead all communication activities for the DREEM project, a five‑year initiative funded by the Mastercard Foundation and implemented by World University Service of Canada (WUSC). The role reports to the DREEM Project Director and will be based in one of the project hubs (Nairobi, Abidjan, Accra, Kigali, or Addis Ababa). The position starts as soon as possible and is re‑advertised, with previous applicants retained on file.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy that raises the profile of the DREEM project across target audiences.
• Produce and adapt communication materials (press releases, newsletters, social media content, reports, case studies) in both English and French.
• Manage media relations, organize events, and coordinate with Refugee‑Led Organizations (RLOs) to showcase project impact.
• Support the creation of advocacy messages and policy briefs that align with WUSC’s broader youth‑focused development goals.
• Monitor and evaluate communication outcomes, providing regular updates to the Project Director and funders.

Required profile

• University degree in Communications, Journalism, International Development or a related field.
• Minimum 3‑5 years of professional experience in communications, preferably within international development or humanitarian contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural environments and manage multiple geographic locations.
• Strong written and verbal skills in both English and French; candidates will be tested in the first interview.
