Communications Manager (Internal & Digital)

About the role

Gatsby is seeking a Communications Manager to shape and deliver both internal and digital communications across the organisation. Based in Nairobi, you will work closely with senior leaders to ensure clear, consistent messaging that supports the NGO’s mission and values.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute an annual internal communications plan aligned with Gatsby’s overall strategy.
• Produce staff‑focused content such as newsletters, blogs, case studies, interviews, and town‑hall presentations.
• Coordinate senior‑management updates, video/audio briefings, and all‑staff meetings.
• Maintain and continuously improve the organisation’s website (WordPress or similar), ensuring content is current, engaging and audience‑focused.
• Manage external digital channels, particularly LinkedIn, and oversee multimedia production (video, podcasts, graphics).
• Support senior leaders with strategic messaging, stakeholder engagement and media relations.
• Monitor media and social conversations, analyse impact metrics and report on communications performance.
• Leverage AI tools for drafting, research and content creation, staying current with emerging technologies.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of relevant experience in communications, marketing or a related field.
• Background in an agency, large complex organisation or high‑profile NGO is strongly preferred.
• Degree‑level education or equivalent professional experience.
• Exceptional written and spoken English.
• Experience working in Africa within the private, public or international development sector is desirable.
• Enthusiasm for continuous learning, especially around AI‑enabled communications.
