Communications Manager

About the role

The Communications Manager will lead the design, execution and measurement of integrated communication programmes for Gatsby in Nairobi. Reporting to senior leadership, the role combines strategic messaging, digital channel management and stakeholder engagement to amplify the organisation's impact.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver multi‑channel communication campaigns, including website, social media and print.
• Manage website content using WordPress or a comparable CMS and maintain an active LinkedIn presence.
• Support senior leaders with strategic messaging, briefing notes and media relations.
• Monitor media and social conversations, analyse performance data and report on communication impact.
• Leverage AI tools for research, drafting and content production while staying current on emerging technologies.
• Coordinate basic multimedia production such as video clips, podcasts and graphics.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of relevant experience in communications, marketing or a related field, preferably in an agency or large, high‑profile organisation.
• Proven ability to manage digital channels and deliver integrated campaigns.
• Experience supporting senior leadership with strategic communications.
• Familiarity with media monitoring, analytics and evidence‑based impact measurement.
• Degree‑level education or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience working in Africa within private, public or international development contexts is desirable.
