Communications Manager

About the role

Precision Development (PxD) is seeking a Communications Manager to lead the creation and dissemination of evidence‑based content that showcases the impact of its farmer‑focused programmes across low‑ and middle‑income countries. Based in Nairobi, you will work closely with research, development and fundraising teams to translate complex findings into clear, compelling narratives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with organisational goals.
• Produce high‑quality written materials, including reports, articles, web copy and social media posts.
• Define audience segments and establish metrics to measure communications effectiveness.
• Manage external consultants, agencies and freelancers, setting briefs and monitoring performance.
• Create and enforce communications policies such as social‑media guidelines and media consent processes.
• Collaborate with fundraising teams to craft donor‑focused communications.
• Oversee website content and maintain a strong presence on platforms like LinkedIn.
• Utilise design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) to enhance visual storytelling.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of experience in communications, content strategy, journalism or a related field.
• Proven ability to translate technical research into non‑technical, audience‑friendly language.
• Experience defining audience segments and measuring communications impact.
• Track record of managing external partners and setting clear performance expectations.
• Strong organisational and project‑management skills in a lean team environment.
• Experience supporting fundraising or development activities in a nonprofit or international‑development setting.
