Community Development and Social Work Officer

About the role

The Ubuntu Life Foundation is seeking a Community Development and Social Work Officer to connect the organization with families and children in Nairobi’s Westlands area. The role focuses on delivering holistic social support, empowerment initiatives, and health awareness programmes to strengthen community resilience and inclusion.

Key responsibilities

• Identify children, families and community members in need of social and economic assistance and conduct comprehensive assessments.
• Develop individualized care or intervention plans, maintain case files, and perform regular home visits and follow‑up checks.
• Design and implement community empowerment projects, capacity‑building sessions and economic activities for parents and caregivers.
• Organise health talks and awareness campaigns on disability inclusion, therapy, epilepsy and child welfare, collaborating with clinic and education teams.
• Advocate for the rights of children with disabilities, link families to resources such as NHIF and NCPWD registration, and build partnerships with local NGOs and authorities.
• Monitor and evaluate project outcomes, prepare weekly and monthly reports, and document success stories for visibility and accountability.

Required profile

• Minimum of 1 month experience in community development, social work or related field.
• Strong commitment to child welfare, disability inclusion and community empowerment.
• Ability to conduct assessments, develop care plans and maintain accurate case documentation.
• Excellent communication and partnership‑building skills with local organisations and authorities.
