Compliance Specialist

About the role

Water.org is seeking a Compliance Specialist to strengthen its global compliance framework. You will ensure that the organization’s governance, data‑privacy, and third‑party due‑diligence processes operate with rigor and integrity, supporting its mission to provide safe water and sanitation worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Manage compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions, overseeing corporate governance, entity registrations, and good‑standing requirements.
• Support and enhance the data‑privacy program, handling data‑subject requests and navigating diverse privacy regulations.
• Conduct counterparty due‑diligence and sanctions screening, including OFAC and anti‑bribery checks, to protect partnerships.
• Collaborate with Legal, Finance, HR, and regional teams to embed compliance practices into daily operations.
• Help build and mature a growing compliance program by introducing structure, documentation, and independent ownership of workstreams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; degree in Legal Studies, Business, Compliance, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in compliance, legal operations, risk management, or process‑focused roles.

Required skills

• Data‑privacy management across multiple jurisdictions.
• Counterparty due‑diligence and sanctions screening (OFAC, anti‑bribery).
• Knowledge of corporate governance and entity registration requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
