Computer Management Assistant – IT Support

About the role

The Computer Management Assistant (CMA) supports all computer systems, networks and cloud services at the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi. Working on‑site, the CMA provides advanced technical assistance, leads small agile projects and ensures high availability of critical IT infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and monitor physical and virtual servers, routers, switches and VPN devices to maintain maximum network uptime.
• Provide second‑ and third‑tier support for hardware, printers, SharePoint, OneDrive and Office 365 issues, documenting resolutions in the help‑desk system.
• Lead technical consulting and project management for user‑focused solutions, including tech‑talk sessions and change‑management initiatives.
• Configure and manage mobile devices, VR/AR headsets, IoT gadgets and related authentication services for secure VPN access.
• Design, install and maintain audio‑visual, digital signage and virtual meeting room systems, preparing scope of work and bills of materials for procurement.

Required profile

• U.S. security clearance (or ability to obtain one).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field.
