Conflict Resolution Officer (Professional)

About the role

The Conflict Resolution Officer supports the Office of the Ombudsperson by managing cases, researching systemic issues and contributing to policy development, ensuring a fair and respectful workplace for IOM staff.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee case management for the designated region, including intake, follow‑up and statistical reporting.
• Research systemic issues and advise OOM leadership on preventive actions.
• Prepare trend reports, draft policies, administrative procedures and other operational documents.
• Develop and deliver outreach materials such as brochures, presentations and handbooks.
• Implement training programmes on conflict prevention and dispute resolution and organise related meetings.
• Support equity initiatives, including gender issues, to prevent discrimination and harassment.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Behavioural Sciences, Conflict Resolution, Law, Social Sciences, Human Resources or related field with at least five years relevant experience (or university degree with seven years experience).
• Professional experience in mediation, ombuds, conflict prevention, case management and working in multicultural or regional settings.
• Fluency in English (oral and written); additional UN language knowledge is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience using Adobe Photoshop.
• Ability to maintain and update a website.
