Conflict Resolution Officer (Professional)

About the role

The Conflict Resolution Officer provides technical support to the Ombudsperson programme in Nairobi, assisting with case management, research, and the preparation of statistics, reports and presentations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage conflict cases from intake through closure, ensuring timely and confidential handling.
• Conduct research and prepare statistical analyses, reports and presentations for the Ombudsperson office.
• Maintain and update the programme’s website and related digital resources.
• Support outreach activities, building trust with staff and facilitating informal dispute resolution.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Behavioural Sciences, Conflict Resolution, Law, Social Sciences, Human Resources or related field with at least five years of relevant experience (or equivalent university degree with seven years).
• Proven experience in professional conflict management, mediation, case management and working in multicultural or regional settings.
• Ability to explain policies, provide information and help staff develop options for resolving issues.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Photoshop.
• Website maintenance and basic content‑management skills.
