Cook (Supermarket)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Cook to work in a supermarket environment, preparing a variety of meals, snacks and ready‑to‑eat products. The role involves ensuring consistent quality, taste and presentation while adhering to food safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present meals, snacks, baked items and ready‑to‑eat products according to approved recipes.
• Handle ingredient preparation including washing, chopping, marinating and portioning.
• Monitor cooking times and temperatures to guarantee safe and efficient food preparation.
• Manage inventory of ingredients, seasonings and kitchen supplies, reporting low stock and assisting with requisitions.
• Maintain proper storage, rotation and labeling of food items following FIFO principles.
• Uphold high standards of hygiene, sanitation and workplace cleanliness, complying with food safety regulations.
• Inspect ingredients and finished products to ensure quality and address any issues promptly.
• Support deli counter operations, respond to customer inquiries and assist with special orders.
• Collaborate with kitchen, deli and supermarket staff to ensure smooth operations, especially during peak periods.

Required profile

• Entry‑level qualification – Certificate or Diploma in Catering or related field.
• Minimum of 24 months (2 years) experience in food preparation or a similar role.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced retail kitchen environment.
