Counter Sales Officer

About the role

We are looking for a results‑driven Counter Sales Officer to join our hardware retail team in Nairobi. You will be the first point of contact for customers at the sales counter, providing product information, processing transactions and driving sales.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to customers at the counter, offering product recommendations and answering queries.
• Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Promote and upsell hardware and construction material products to meet sales targets.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships and follow up on inquiries and quotations.
• Monitor stock levels, report low‑stock items and ensure products are well displayed.
• Prepare daily sales reports and maintain accurate records.
• Handle customer complaints professionally and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with the store team to maximise sales opportunities.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum three years of counter‑sales experience in hardware, construction materials or building supplies.
• Strong knowledge of hardware products and construction materials.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and customer‑service abilities.
• Ability to work independently, meet sales targets and solve problems.

Required skills

• Proficiency in basic computer applications.
• Experience using sales systems for transaction processing and reporting.
