Coxswain – Boat Operations for US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is looking for an experienced Coxswain to support a critical US Navy program on Diego Garcia. You will be responsible for the safe operation, navigation, and maintenance of assigned boats and watercraft, ensuring passenger and crew safety during all maritime missions.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and navigate assigned vessels in accordance with mission requirements.
• Conduct pre‑inspections, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
• Manage onboard navigation, communication, and safety equipment.
• Monitor weather and sea conditions and adjust plans for safe navigation.
• Coordinate vessel movements with port authorities and other vessels.
• Execute docking, mooring, anchoring, and cargo handling operations.
• Respond to emergencies, including rescue and recovery procedures.
• Maintain accurate logs, maintenance records, and incident documentation.
• Provide safety briefings and emergency drills for passengers and crew.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience as a Coxswain or similar vessel operator.
• Qualified under NAVEDTRA 43152.2 and familiar with Diego Garcia waterways.
• Minimum 48 documented hours operating deep‑sea fishing boats in Diego Garcia.
