Crane Operator – Overhead Lifting Specialist

About the role

Victory Farms is seeking a skilled Crane Operator to join its Lake Logistics team in Westlands, Nairobi. The successful candidate will safely operate overhead cranes ranging from 1.5‑ton to 10‑ton capacity, supporting daily material handling, assembly projects, and maintenance shutdowns in a fast‑paced agricultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate overhead cranes safely, verifying load weight, rigging, path, and signals before each lift.
• Partner with the logistics team to assemble, position, anchor, and disassemble cranes on site.
• Perform pre‑start and end‑of‑shift inspections, record findings, and report any defects immediately.
• Transfer materials to storage or staging areas, stack loads efficiently, and reconcile counts against paperwork.
• Follow Victory Farms’ HSE policies, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, and housekeeping standards; stop work if conditions are unsafe.
• Communicate lift plans, schedules, and priorities using hand signals and radio protocols.
• Assist with special projects and any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a mean grade of D+ or higher, or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of hands‑on experience operating overhead cranes (1.5‑ton to 10‑ton) in an industrial, marine, or aquaculture setting.
• At least two years of experience operating lift trucks or forklifts.
• Valid overhead crane operator certification and, preferably, First Aid and Basic Fire Safety certificates.
• Ability to read and apply load charts, rigging tables, and manufacturer limits.
• Proven capability to operate a Gantry Max lifting system and experience with lakeside or marine operations.
