Customer Development Manager – Modern Trade

About the role

As a Customer Development Manager at Mars in Nairobi, you will be responsible for driving profitable, sustainable growth for Carrefour and Naivas within the Modern Trade channel. You will partner closely with the customer, distributor and internal Mars teams to position Mars as the partner of choice.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute short‑ and long‑term customer plans that deliver sustainable volume and value growth.
• Monitor performance and proactively adjust plans through demand planning to ensure profitability and service levels.
• Apply financial rigor to channel revenue management and improve trade‑spend efficiency.
• Build strong customer engagement through joint business plans, business reviews and top‑to‑top meetings.
• Collaborate with Modern Trade distributor teams to align goals and achieve customer business objectives.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a Key Accounts or Business Development role, with strong field sales management exposure.
• Bachelor’s degree required; an MBA is an added advantage.
• Demonstrated Mars leadership behaviours: results focus, accountability, cross‑functional collaboration and customer orientation.
