Dairy Farm Manager

About the role

The Dairy Farm Manager will oversee the financial health and operational efficiency of a dairy business in Westlands, Nairobi. The role combines strategic planning, production oversight, and staff leadership to ensure profitability and sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse production data, maintain records and consult with approved advisors as directed by senior management.
• Supervise daily dairy operations, including logistics, maintenance, safety, and quality control.
• Develop marketing strategies, manage supplier relationships, and coordinate purchases of feed, equipment, and other provisions.
• Coordinate with nutritionists and veterinarians to ensure animal health and optimal herd performance.
• Recruit, train, and evaluate staff; conduct regular performance reviews and staff meetings.
• Attend workshops and training sessions to stay current with industry best practices.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with standards and reporting requirements.
• Plan routine maintenance, identify improvement opportunities, and oversee farm expansion projects.
• Track production and sales metrics to meet profitability targets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Animal Science, Agriculture).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in dairy management or a related dairy industry role.
• At least 1 year of supervisory or managerial experience.
• Basic computer literacy for record‑keeping and reporting.

Required skills

• Artificial insemination techniques.
