Data Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join Ezra’s data engineering team in Nairobi. You will build and maintain automated data processing pipelines that feed internal and external consumers, support customer scoring, reporting, revenue assurance and data archiving.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test and maintain ETL pipelines that ingest partner data, validate it and make it available for downstream processes.
• Participate in the design, implementation and release of data‑science initiatives.
• Deliver high‑quality, secure, readable and well‑documented software.
• Collaborate in English with local and remote peers across multiple teams.
• Assist in evaluating new technologies and initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 + years of professional experience in data engineering or related fields.
• Proficiency in Python (or another scripting language) and SQL (or R).
• Advanced experience with relational databases, deployment and performance optimisation.
• Experience with Git, automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with Linux environments (Debian a plus).
• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL and database administration.
• Knowledge of software development best practices, system monitoring, debugging and scaling.
