Debt Collection Officer

About the role

The Debt Collection Officer will manage a portfolio of delinquent loan accounts, implementing collection strategies to recover payments while maintaining professional relationships with customers.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor assigned portfolio of non‑performing loans and determine appropriate collection actions within policy and regulatory guidelines.
• Verify and record customer details received from clients.
• Advise customers on repayment options and communicate the consequences of non‑payment.
• Resolve disputes between customers and principals/clients.
• Contact defaulted borrowers via mail, phone, or visits to recover payments.
• Prepare and follow up on approval requests for negotiated settlements.
• Maintain monthly collection reports and update account status.
• Issue demand and reminder letters and ensure proper documentation of credit accounts.
• Process clearance of debts upon receipt of payment proof and share confirmations with relevant clients.
• Respond to customer inquiries through email, telephone, and postal mail while safeguarding data confidentiality.

Required profile

• Diploma in any field from a recognized institution.
• At least 1 year of experience in collection, credit, sales, or marketing.
• Understanding of debt collection processes and techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
