Deposit Mobilization Relationship Officer

About the role

Umba, a pan‑African digital bank, is seeking a Deposit Mobilization Relationship Officer to drive deposit growth for Umba Microfinance Bank. The role focuses on building long‑term client relationships, promoting savings and fixed‑deposit products, and ensuring a sustainable funding base.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to attract new depositors and retain existing clients.
• Achieve monthly and annual deposit mobilization targets set by management.
• Promote Umba’s savings, fixed‑deposit, and investment products to individuals, groups, SMEs, and institutions.
• Conduct regular client visits, meetings, and financial‑education forums to raise awareness of Umba’s offerings.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for key deposit clients, responding to queries promptly.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within assigned territories or portfolios.
• Develop partnerships with SACCOs, Chamas, schools, churches, and corporates to generate deposits.
• Organise and participate in marketing campaigns, community outreach programs, and product launches.
• Ensure all activities comply with Umba Microfinance policies, Central Bank of Kenya regulations, and AML/CFT requirements.
• Monitor client activity and report performance metrics to management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in deposit mobilization, client relationship management, or business development within the banking sector.
• Strong understanding of banking regulations, compliance, and risk management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build lasting relationships.
• Ability to work independently, meet targets, and handle multiple client portfolios.
