Deputy Lead Dispatch

About the role

The Deputy Lead Dispatch will manage outbound loading and dispatch activities for a fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) warehouse. Reporting to senior logistics management, you will ensure trucks are loaded safely, accurately and on time while coordinating closely with weighbridge and transport teams.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee loading operations, enforce FIFO, batch control and damage‑prevention standards.
• Prioritize orders and coordinate with warehouse pickers to achieve optimal loading efficiency.
• Work with the weighbridge supervisor to guarantee accurate truck weighing before departure.
• Collaborate with the Deputy Lead Transport to schedule trucks, resolve transporter issues and meet delivery windows.
• Plan daily loading schedules, vehicle allocations and delivery sequencing to reduce dwell time.
• Ensure all activities comply with SOPs, safety regulations and conduct regular safety checks.
• Generate daily dispatch reports, loading summaries and KPI dashboards for management review.
• Supervise and coach loading and weighbridge staff, monitoring performance and adherence to procedures.
• Identify and implement process‑improvement initiatives across dispatch operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or Operations Management.
• Minimum 5 years experience in FMCG warehouse dispatch or similar environment.
• Proven leadership, planning and problem‑solving abilities.
• Familiarity with loading safety, FIFO, batch control and OTIF delivery metrics.
