Dialysis Nurse

About the role

Mediforte Hospital is seeking a qualified Dialysis Nurse to join its renal care team in Westlands, Nairobi. The role involves delivering safe haemodialysis treatments and supporting patients throughout their care journey.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, operate, and monitor dialysis machines before, during, and after each session.
• Assess patients pre‑ and post‑treatment, documenting vital signs and observations.
• Monitor for complications, respond to emergencies, and provide basic life support when needed.
• Maintain infection‑prevention standards and ensure proper handling of equipment and supplies.
• Administer prescribed medications and intravenous therapies as directed.
• Educate patients and families on dialysis procedures, care plans, and lifestyle adjustments.
• Collaborate with nephrologists and multidisciplinary team members to ensure high‑quality patient care.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) and holding a valid practising licence.
• Specialised training or certification in haemodialysis nursing.
• At least two years of experience in a dialysis unit (preferred).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (preferred).
• Professionalism, integrity, and strong teamwork orientation.
