Electrical Engineering Pod Lead

About the role

Turing is seeking an Electrical Engineering Pod Lead to manage a small team that creates simulation‑based design problems for training and evaluating advanced AI models. The role combines technical depth in electrical engineering with hands‑on Python, Docker, and cloud skills to ensure high‑quality, reproducible environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a pod of 4–8 Engineering Design Specialists, assigning tasks, reviewing deliverables, and removing blockers.
• Serve as the primary liaison with AI research teams, translating model feedback into problem refinements and reporting progress and risks.
• Oversee the creation and maintenance of Docker‑based simulation environments and support cloud infrastructure for simulation and grading.
• Develop and review Python automation and validation scripts, handling dependency and versioning issues.
• Design a portfolio of high‑difficulty electrical engineering problems in a chosen subdomain, setting quality standards for the pod.

Required profile

• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on electrical engineering design experience, with ownership of complete design cycles.
• Deep expertise in at least one subdomain (Analog/Mixed‑Signal IC, Power Electronics, RF/Microwave, Digital Systems/FPGA/ASIC, or Embedded Systems) and familiarity with others.
• Experience collaborating with research or AI teams and leading small technical groups.
