Electrical Technician – Industrial Maintenance

About the role

Our client is seeking a certified Electrical Technician to maintain and repair electrical systems that power blending, bagging, conveyor, and material‑handling equipment. The role ensures safe, reliable, and continuous operation of the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot and repair faults on blending machines, bagging lines, conveyors, palletizers, weighbridge systems and motor control panels.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, testing, cleaning, tightening and component replacement to minimise downtime.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and equipment manuals to diagnose and fix issues safely.
• Maintain and calibrate control systems, sensors, low‑voltage industrial motors and drives.
• Record maintenance activities, fault descriptions, parts used and repair times for reporting.
• Follow strict electrical safety procedures, including Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out (LOTO) and client safety rules.
• Collaborate with mechanical technicians on electro‑mechanical faults.
• Support installation, testing and commissioning of new equipment and system upgrades.
• Escalate hazards or non‑compliant installations to the HESQ Officer.
• Keep the workshop and tool storage organised and safe.

Required profile

• Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Installation.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial or warehouse electrical maintenance.
• Knowledge of low‑voltage industrial control systems, motors and conveyor/hopper circuits.
• Strong fault‑diagnosis ability and capacity to work safely under pressure.
• Willingness to work rotating and high‑season shifts.
• Valid electrical trade licence and basic occupational health & safety training (or willingness to complete induction).
