Electrical Technician – Power Generation Systems

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to install, commission, and maintain diesel generator sets and associated power generation equipment for our client in Nairobi. The role involves ensuring reliable operation of generators, control panels, and automatic transfer systems while adhering to safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, commission, and test diesel generator sets and related electrical systems.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair generator electrical faults and automatic transfer/changeover systems.
• Program, configure, and calibrate generator controllers and monitoring devices from various manufacturers.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on generators, control panels, and associated equipment.
• Conduct electrical inspections, testing, and fault‑finding to guarantee system reliability.
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Prepare maintenance reports and maintain accurate service records.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures.

Required profile

• Diploma, Certificate or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation or related field.
• Minimum three years of experience with installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of diesel generators.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve generator, controller and changeover switch faults.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, control circuits and power distribution equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
• High standards of professionalism, integrity and attention to detail.
