Electrical Technician – Team Lead

About the role

The Electrical Technician – Team Lead will oversee the electrical maintenance function for Unga Holdings’ manufacturing plant in Westlands, Nairobi. Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Manager, the role combines hands‑on technical work with leadership of the electrical team to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of all plant equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and execute preventive and condition‑based maintenance for all electrical assets.
• Diagnose and repair electrical equipment failures through inspection, testing and corrective action.
• Maintain accurate records of machine performance data (pressures, temperatures, power consumption, running hours) and generate reports for decision‑making.
• Coordinate spare‑part requisitions and manage inventory of critical components.
• Lead, coach and evaluate the electrical maintenance team, ensuring compliance with SHE, GMP and quality standards.
• Support plant utilities maintenance including generators and compressors.
• Identify opportunities for equipment modification, improvement and innovation to boost efficiency.
• Provide administrative support such as logging work details, reviewing job cards and preparing performance dashboards.

Required profile

• BSc in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of electrical maintenance experience in a busy manufacturing environment.
• Strong problem‑solving, planning and people‑management abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
