Emergency Manager

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an Emergency Manager to lead and support crisis response activities within its Kakuma programme. Working closely with the Emergency Coordinator, you will ensure timely and effective responses to identified crisis triggers, coordinating with partners, sector leads, and local authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and design emergency projects, including rapid field needs assessments and baseline surveys.
• Develop specifications, standard operating procedures, and technical designs for water and sanitation interventions.
• Formulate and implement response strategies in collaboration with emergency staff and field managers.
• Identify and mitigate disaster and project risks, ensuring alignment with country strategy and priorities.
• Manage project implementation to meet objectives, budgets, and timelines.
• Monitor and supervise field activities, reviewing tender documents, technical specifications, and bills of quantities.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading emergency response or disaster risk reduction projects.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including partners, sector leads, and local authorities.
• Commitment to IRC core values and inclusive participation of diverse community groups.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills in high‑pressure environments.
