About the role

The Employment Specialist supports disabled veterans in navigating employment options, providing personalized guidance and resources to help them secure suitable jobs and advance their careers.

Key responsibilities

• Serve on the triage team to assess veterans’ employment needs and recommend appropriate career tracks.
• Conduct pre‑employment job readiness evaluations, including resume preparation, interview coaching, and career search assistance.
• Coordinate employer outreach, market job opportunities, and promote special incentives such as on‑the‑job training and tax benefits.
• Organize and deliver employment readiness classes for veterans lacking essential job‑search skills.
• Maintain a positive image of the VR&E program through networking with employers and providing guidance on reasonable accommodations.
• Update and manage the corporate WINRS database of job‑ready veterans.
• Develop partnerships with government agencies, private sector employers, and community organizations to expand employment opportunities.
• Track and report employment services performance data for the local office.

Required profile

• Entry‑level qualification with up to two years of relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of veteran employment programs and disability accommodations.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with counselors, employers, and external partners.
