Engineering Team Leader

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Team Leader to head a small, high‑performing engineering group in Kenya. This fully remote role blends hands‑on software development with people leadership, driving product delivery and technical excellence through modern AI‑enabled workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of 3‑5 engineers, fostering healthy dynamics and high‑quality delivery.
• Balance leadership duties with active contribution to product development and code.
• Own hiring, onboarding, and continuous development of team members.
• Provide regular feedback, coaching, and mentorship.
• Drive planning, prioritization, and execution to meet product outcomes.
• Serve as the primary spokesperson for the team, aligning with stakeholders.
• Define and implement AI‑driven engineering workflows to improve speed, quality, and scalability.
• Introduce testing, evaluation, and guardrails to ensure reliable, secure software.
• Collaborate across functions to enhance engineering processes and system design.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing 2‑5 engineers with responsibility for performance and delivery.
• Strong backend engineering background with production‑grade systems.
• Track record of shipping secure, scalable, and reliable software in complex environments.
• Experience designing or adopting automation and workflow orchestration.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to align engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
