Executive Director

About the role

The Executive Director (ED) will provide overall leadership, strategic vision and accountability for NEST360 Alliance, an international partnership dedicated to ending preventable newborn deaths in African hospitals. Reporting to the Global Fiduciary Board, the ED will steer multi‑country implementation, drive high‑level advocacy and ensure operational excellence across all programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute NEST360’s multi‑year strategic plan in alignment with UN SDG 3.2 and global health priorities.
• Lead a diverse team, overseeing programme delivery, finance, governance and partnership development.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Global Fiduciary Board and hub management, ensuring clear expectations and performance accountability.
• Represent NEST360 with ministries of health, regional bodies, multilateral agencies and private partners to embed interventions into national and regional policies.
• Build the organisation’s visibility, credibility and influence as an Africa‑led leader in newborn health, including speaking at international forums.
• Co‑chair the Leadership Strategy Committee and participate ex officio on the global fiduciary board.
• Guide expansion into new member countries while maintaining operational excellence across existing sites.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of senior‑level leadership experience in health, international development or related sectors.
• Proven track record of managing multi‑country programmes and complex stakeholder ecosystems.
• Strong understanding of global health frameworks, especially newborn survival and UN Sustainable Development Goals.
• Experience working with governments, donors, and multilateral agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to uphold fiduciary, statutory and ethical responsibilities.
