Fairtrade & Farmer Development Manager

About the role

Mavuno Organics is expanding its Fairtrade avocado programme and seeks a dynamic manager to lead the growth and management of its Fairtrade farmer network. You will work directly with cooperatives, community‑based organisations, self‑help groups and individual growers to build a reliable supply of export‑quality Fairtrade avocados.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, recruit and onboard avocado farmers into the Fairtrade supply programme.
• Support the creation and legal registration of new farmer organisations where needed.
• Develop and execute annual plans for farmer recruitment and supply‑base expansion.
• Strengthen governance, administration and record‑keeping systems of existing producer organisations.
• Build capacity of elected leaders and management committees on Fairtrade standards and premium management.
• Coordinate implementation and ongoing compliance with Fairtrade and organic certification requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years (60 months) experience in farmer development, agricultural supply‑chain management or Fairtrade programmes.
• Proven ability to work with cooperatives, CBOs and smallholder growers.
• Strong understanding of Fairtrade certification, governance and premium management.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
